About TweetSum

TweetSum is a small, independent website with one tool and a few guides. The tool turns an article into a single post, a short list of key points and a TL;DR.

What the site does

Most people who share an article write one line about it, and plenty don't read past the headline first. TweetSum is built for the step in between. You paste the text, the summarizer shows you which sentences carry the article, and you get a draft post that fits in 280 characters with room for the link.

The summarizer is extractive. It ranks the sentences already in the text by how many of the article's recurring words they contain, where they sit, and how long they are, then trims the best ones to fit. The full method, with the actual weights, is on the summarizer page. We chose this approach on purpose: an extract can't make up a figure or put words in someone's mouth, and you can see exactly why each sentence was picked.

Everything runs in your browser. The page loads one stylesheet, one script and a few fonts, all from this domain. Your text is never sent to us or anyone else.

The guides

The guides cover what the tool can't do for you: deciding what an article actually says, crediting the source properly, writing a TL;DR that a reader can trust, and handling research news without overstating it. They're written by the TweetSum editors, a small team that has spent years writing headlines, social copy and news summaries.

Relaunched in 2026

The domain tweetsum.com was registered again and relaunched in 2026 under new, independent management. This site has no connection to earlier owners of the domain or to anything published on it before, and none of those old pages were carried over.

Not affiliated with X

TweetSum is an independent tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by X Corp. "X" and "Twitter" are used only to describe the post format and character rules the tool works with.
